I would say that besides iD software and their newfangled doom versions,īethesda has been pioneering the boundaries of the FPS genre with Fallout 4.Īlso I did. especially with the crazy amount of mods that can be used in Fallout 4 But it ended up as a pretty interesting FPS variation. they did do something VERY interesting with the FPS genre with Fallout 4. Given how ample the choice is in Doom mods alone, let alone kinda-Doom-like games, how is the presence of other different stuff that's not Doom-like at all a bad thing?Īlso. but nowadays, there's just so much choice in both the "fast paced, all gameplay, almost no story" FPS category, and in the "slower, more story driven, might be boring to some" FPS category.

From 2005-2010, I definitely got bored of the slow gameplay that permeated FPS. If there was never a "classic, gameplay focused" resurgence among FPS games, there would be like, 1% more merit to this argument. Instructions on how to download, install, and play it are included there too. Obvious bait, but since arguing is fun - is it Half-Life's fault that everyone copied it (and some of the worst aspects of it, no less)? Link to free download of Half-Life 2: Nuclear Plant.
